Session B: 21st Century Skills (Participants choose one presentation)

* VoiceThread (presenter - Cindy Wong, Moanalua High School)
VoiceThread is a hosted site that is advertisement free. Teachers can post an audio,
video, or picture file and use it as a teaching tool. It can also be used for collaboration
among students. Anyone can join in, so you can even get feedback from the general
public. Come check out some of the cool things that are already there. Then, start
developing your own voicethread.

* Teaching Language with Comics (presenter - Nancy Wysard, Sacred Hearts Academy)
Utilizing comics can be a refreshing, creative & fun way to teach language. Your
students will love communicating their ideas while learning grammatical concepts,
which can be boring (to them of course!). In this presentation I will teach you how
you too can include Comic making in your language class. You will learn how to use
Comic Life and other comic-making websites. For the hands-on part , bring your flash
drive with 5 pictures of the most important things in your life and you will learn how to
present them the Comic way.
HANDOUT FROM NANCY WYSARD (.pdf file)

* Audacity (presenter - Satoru Shinagawa, Kapiolani Community College)
Audacity is a free cross-platform sound editor. It can record and edit sound files. For
language courses, sound files provide a handy tool for both teachers and students. Learn how to make them and start creating your own!
